Brilliant Lady’s Mexican Riviera:
what’s hot now

Fresh from Alaska, Virgin’s newest ship is sailing Cabo, Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta from Los Angeles — with solo pricing and promotions worth separating from the confetti.

Virgin Voyages’ Brilliant Lady has finished her first Alaska season and is now back where the Pacific looks particularly good from a balcony: the Mexican Riviera.

Sources and facts checked: September 17, 2026 (America/New_York). Fares, solo inventory, promotions and itineraries change daily. Sample prices here are a dated snapshot, not a quote — check and verify the current fare, offer terms and port order with Virgin Voyages before you pay.

The fall 2026 program combines a familiar port pattern — Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta — with a new ship, adults-only onboard energy, limited solo pricing, and several promotions worth separating from the marketing confetti.

Brilliant Lady’s Alaska-to-Los Angeles shift

Brilliant Lady wrapped Virgin Voyages’ first-ever Alaska season in mid-September 2026 before repositioning to Los Angeles for a fall series of Mexican Riviera sailings. Cruise Industry News reported the deployment change on September 10, while additional itinerary coverage places the ship at the World Cruise Center in San Pedro for the Mexican Riviera program.

See the Cruise Industry News deployment report and the Brilliant Lady Mexican Riviera itinerary listing from VV Insider.

The standard itinerary is a 7-night round trip from Los Angeles, with calls at:

  • Cabo San Lucas
  • Mazatlán
  • Puerto Vallarta
  • Two sea days on the return

A typical sailing departs Los Angeles at 5 p.m., reaches Cabo on day three, Mazatlán on day four and Puerto Vallarta on day five, then returns to San Pedro a week after departure.

Cabo is a tender port, so build in patience for getting ashore and returning to the ship. Puerto Vallarta is docked, but the terminal is several miles from downtown. Mazatlán rewards a more deliberate plan; the port’s walkable Blue Line corridor and historic center are usually a better use of time than attempting to cover the entire city.

For practical port planning, read OTGG’s guides to Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán, and Puerto Vallarta.

Two Halloween sailings, not one

If you are searching for a "Brilliant Lady Halloween cruise," there are two different options. The October 17, 2026 departure is a 7-night Mexican Riviera Halloween voyage (Los Angeles to Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, and Mazatlán per Virgin's own pages; some secondary aggregators show a different port order, so confirm the sequence on Virgin's official page). Separately, October 24–29, 2026 is a 5-night "SoCal & Ensenada: Halloween Edition" voyage calling at Catalina Island, San Diego, and Ensenada. They are materially different itineraries — verify which one you are booking before you pay.

The solo Sea Terrace prices worth watching

The most interesting current value story is Virgin’s reduced single supplement on the Sea Terrace meta category.

A meta category is a group of related cabin types sold under one broader label. In this case, the offer can cover options such as a standard Sea Terrace, a slightly smaller balcony, a limited-view Sea Terrace, or an XL version, depending on availability.

In mid-September 2026, VV Insider’s solo table listed these sample prices for one sailor. Treat them as a snapshot of what the offer looked like, not a quote:

Sample solo Sea Terrace cabin totals for one sailor, as listed by VV Insider in mid-September 2026. Prices change daily and exclude gratuities. Checked September 17, 2026.
Sailing dateItinerarySolo Sea Terrace price
September 26, 2026 Mexican Riviera$1,312
October 3, 2026 Mexican Riviera$1,402
October 10, 2026 Mexican Riviera$1,218
October 17, 2026 Mexican Riviera Halloween Cruise$1,447

These are cabin totals for one sailor, not per-person double-occupancy prices. VV Insider states that prices exclude gratuities and can change with inventory and demand. The page also notes a typical reduced single supplement range of approximately 125% to 200% of the double-occupancy rate, depending on the sailing and available capacity.

The offer is:

  • Limited to the Sea Terrace meta category
  • Capacity-controlled
  • Combinable with standard Virgin Voyages offers
  • Potentially combinable with a My Next Virgin Voyage (MNVV) offer
  • Generally not combinable with other promotions or credits, including VV Insider-specific Sail Forward benefits

Do not assume that a low solo Sea Terrace price remains available after you find it. Virgin can remove the inventory without changing the public headline.

Dedicated solo Insider and Solo Sea View cabins remain a separate product. They are priced for one sailor by design, but they do not qualify for the reduced single supplement on Sea Terrace cabins.

Sail & Save: cheap, useful, and not the same thing

Virgin Voyages’ Sail & Save promotion is another option for value-focused travelers. It refreshes on Wednesdays and features discounted Lock It In rates on selected sailings.

Lock It In is a guarantee-style fare. You book the cabin category and fare, but Virgin assigns the specific cabin later. You do not control the final deck, location, or proximity to elevators.

The promotion has advertised select fares from approximately $89 per sailor per night, although September 2026 Brilliant Lady examples have also appeared closer to $99 or $109 per night. The headline rate is not a promise that every Mexican Riviera sailing will price at $89.

For solo sailors, the useful detail is that taxes and fees are charged for one guest rather than two. That can make a low Lock It In fare more attractive than a standard double-occupancy cabin with a full single supplement.

The tradeoff is flexibility. Lock It In may not qualify for the reduced Sea Terrace single-supplement offer, and it removes your ability to choose the exact cabin. Compare the final total, not the nightly headline.

Eat & Drink Festival runs into the fall

Virgin Voyages’ 2026 Eat & Drink Festival, also described as the Festival of Senses, runs through September 28, 2026 on selected voyages.

The program focuses on bookable sensory dining experiences, special menus, drink pairings, culinary demonstrations, and themed events. Virgin’s program materials describe experiences that engage taste, sound, scent, texture, and presentation rather than simply adding another cocktail promotion to the daily schedule.

That makes the September 26 departure particularly worth checking. However, “the festival runs through September 28” does not automatically mean every event appears on every sailing. Check the booking window, event availability, cancellation terms, and whether the experience carries an additional charge.

The UK promotion needs careful translation

For UK bookings, Virgin Voyages has advertised up to £750 in instant savings plus 70% off the second sailor on eligible bookings made through November 2, 2026. Check and verify the end date and eligibility with Virgin Voyages UK.

Breaking Travel News reported the promotion, while Virgin’s offer terms explain that percentage discounts can be structured across both sailors’ base fares rather than simply removing 70% from one person’s entire invoice.

This distinction matters. Taxes, fees, gratuities, flights, transfers, and add-ons may not receive the same discount. Confirm:

  1. The eligible market and currency.
  2. The fare type.
  3. The cabin category.
  4. Whether the offer applies to the specific Brilliant Lady sailing.
  5. Which parts of the invoice receive the discount.

Do not apply UK terms to a US booking or assume that an offer shown in one currency will appear identically in another.

What happens after the Mexican Riviera season?

After the fall West Coast season, Brilliant Lady heads from Los Angeles to Miami through the Panama Canal. Cruise Industry News reports the ship begins a repositioning voyage to Miami in late October. The October 29, 2026 departure has been listed as a 17-night Halloween repositioning arriving in Miami on November 15, 2026 — that length, arrival date and the port list below are not stated on the Virgin press page we reviewed, so check and verify with the cruise line or vendor. The route as listed is: Los Angeles → Cabo San Lucas → Puerto Quetzal (Guatemala) → Puntarenas (Costa Rica) → Panama City → Panama Canal transit → Cartagena (with an overnight stay) → Miami. Confirm the current port list on Virgin's official page, because port order and calls can change before departure.

Virgin’s published press material on the ship’s first canal crossing covers the westbound transit in March 2026, not this eastbound return, so confirm the routing, ports and event programming on Virgin’s official voyage page before treating any of it as final. Repositioning cruises can carry different fare rules, longer stretches at sea, and more complex flight planning than a round trip from Los Angeles.

For solo travelers, the longer voyage may offer strong value if the fare is reasonable — but it also creates a larger pre-cruise risk if you book a tight same-day flight connection.

Devil’s Advocate: why this may not be the bargain it looks like

The solo Sea Terrace pricing is compelling, but it is not automatically the best value.

First, a balcony may not be your priority on an itinerary with three port days and two sea days. A dedicated Solo Insider cabin could cost less while preserving Virgin’s adults-only atmosphere and solo meetups.

Second, the lowest advertised fare may exclude gratuities, specialty dining, shore excursions, transfers, flights, and pre-cruise lodging. The real comparison is the trip total.

Third, Cabo’s tender process can frustrate travelers with mobility limitations or tight excursion schedules. Puerto Vallarta’s docked status does not mean every downtown activity is close to the terminal.

Finally, the Eat & Drink Festival may add excellent programming, but bookable sensory dining is not the same as unlimited included dining. Confirm the event price before treating it as part of the fare.

Verify before you pay

Ask Virgin Voyages or your accredited travel advisor to confirm the following in writing:

  • The sailing date, ship, departure terminal, and full port sequence.
  • Whether the quote is for one sailor or double occupancy.
  • The exact Sea Terrace subcategory.
  • The single-supplement percentage and offer name.
  • Whether the fare is Base, Essential, Premium, or Lock It In.
  • Whether MNVV can be applied.
  • Whether Sail & Save credits or other onboard credits are excluded.
  • Taxes, fees, gratuities, and payment deadlines.
  • Cancellation and rebooking terms.
  • Current solo cabin, solo meetup, and private dinner availability.
  • Festival of Senses event dates, fees, and cancellation rules.
  • Accessibility details for the ship, tender operation, and each excursion.
  • Written confirmation from Virgin Voyages of the fare and promotional terms.

If you are flying to Los Angeles, protect the cruise with an overnight buffer. San Pedro is not adjacent to Los Angeles International Airport, and traffic is a planning variable rather than a minor inconvenience.

Frequently asked

Is Brilliant Lady adults-only?

Yes. Virgin Voyages is an adults-only cruise line for guests aged 18 and over, subject to its current policies.

Are the listed solo prices all-in?

No. VV Insider identifies the sample Sea Terrace prices as voyage fares and notes that gratuities are excluded. Confirm taxes, fees, gratuities, and any additional charges before paying.

Can I use the reduced single supplement on a Solo Insider cabin?

No. The reduced single supplement applies to eligible Sea Terrace meta-category cabins. Dedicated Solo Insider and Solo Sea View cabins are separate categories.

Does Sail & Save guarantee a balcony?

No. Sail & Save Lock It In rates guarantee the cabin category, not a specific cabin location. A Lock It In Insider fare does not become a Sea Terrace simply because a balcony later becomes available.

Which Mexican Riviera port is tendered?

Cabo San Lucas is typically tendered. Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta are generally docked, but berth assignments and port operations can change.

Is the October 17 sailing a Halloween cruise?

Yes. Brilliant Lady’s October 17, 2026 departure has been listed as a 7-night Mexican Riviera Halloween Cruise — check and verify with the cruise line or vendor. Virgin’s own pages list the port order as Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, then Mazatlán; some secondary aggregators show a different sequence, so confirm the order on Virgin’s official page before booking. Note that this is not the only Halloween sailing: October 24–29, 2026 is a separate 5-night "SoCal & Ensenada: Halloween Edition" voyage calling at Catalina Island, San Diego, and Ensenada. Confirm the current theme programming and solo inventory directly before booking.
