Gran Canaria gives you a concentrated scene with room to breathe around it. Ibiza gives you queer-friendly travel inside a much bigger club culture. Mykonos gives gay men a summer calendar and asks for money and stamina in return. This is not a ranking. It is a matching exercise, and the inputs are your pace, your budget, your mobility and how much nightlife you actually want.
None of the three headline events has a published 2027 date. Checked at each organizer on September 11, 2026: XLSIOR still shows August 2026, which has passed. Ibiza Pride still shows its June 2026 program. Maspalomas Pride is the closest — listings cite 3–9 May 2027 with the parade on the 8th — but the organizer's own page still says coming soon rather than publishing it.
If a site quotes you a firm 2027 date for any of these today, it did not get it from the organizer. Book flights around a confirmed date or accept that you are guessing.

Gran Canaria: the one with room around it
Gran Canaria's tourism authority runs dedicated LGBTQ+ information and the Proudly Gran Canaria campaign, and for most gay male travelers Maspalomas and Playa del Inglés are the easiest combination of bars, restaurants, beaches and people. Stay near the Yumbo if nightlife and walkability decide it. Choose Meloneras for a more polished resort setting, or Las Palmas for a real city — museums, neighborhoods, local food and a scene that is not the whole point of the street.
What the island gives you beyond the bars is the reason to pick it: the Maspalomas coast, a carefully timed visit to the dunes, Canarian food and markets, Vegueta in Las Palmas, and an interior that is genuinely worth a guided day. It is also the only one of the three that works year-round rather than in a season.
Ibiza: a club island that is also queer-friendly
The distinction matters. Ibiza has a visible LGBTQ+ presence and it is not a gay resort district — its identity is electronic music and everything built around it. Ibiza Town gives you restaurants, Dalt Vila, the marina and Pride programming. San Antonio is nightlife and sunsets. Santa Eulalia is the quieter stay with a slower evening.
Use it for more than club entry — a coastal boat day, the old town, the markets, one deliberate rest day between late nights. And price the whole trip rather than the room: transfers, club transport, entry, beach rentals and late-night taxis are where an Ibiza budget actually goes. A cheap room far from your plans is not cheap.
Mykonos: plan the event, then build around it
Mykonos is the one most tied to a calendar, and XLSIOR is the anchor — a multi-venue festival across indoor and outdoor sites. Stay in Mykonos Town for restaurants and evenings on foot, Ornos for a beach base, or next to your confirmed venues. Elia and the other beach areas look appealing on a map and do not guarantee easy transport or step-free access.
Balance the calendar with a beach visit planned around heat and crowds, Greek food away from the nightlife corridors, a boat excursion subject to boarding access, and a pre-booked transfer rather than an improvised late-night journey.
Cruise or land is a three-way question, not a two-way one. A standard eight-hour port call is not a substitute for a land stay on an island whose whole character is its evenings — you would be back aboard before it starts. But an overnight call is a different product: the ship stays alongside and the night is yours. If you want the evenings without committing a week to one island, that is the option most people never consider.
Solo, groups, and adults-only
Solo. Official meetups, group excursions, hotel social spaces and pre-arranged dinners all work — but do not rely on an event crowd to solve your social and safety needs at once. Share your itinerary with someone who will notice, protect your phone and ID, and arrange the return journey before you start drinking, not after.
Groups. Pick accommodation with a workable common area, confirm whether rooms, transfers and tickets can sit on one booking, agree a meeting point for large venues, and ask about accessibility per person rather than treating the group as having one standard need. Build in an optional track for the people who do not want the nightlife.
Adults-only. It is an age policy and nothing more. Confirm the current policy, room access, noise profile, LGBTQ+ welcome, cancellation terms and accessibility separately — none of those follows from any of the others.
Accessibility: none of these is a level island
Our accessible travel rule applies with force here: ask the specific question, treat a general reassurance as a no. All three islands have terrain problems and they are different problems.
- Is the entrance step-free from street level, and does the lift reach the room floor?
- What are the shower dimensions and are the grab bars fixed or suction-mounted?
- Is the accessible room actually available on your dates, or only in principle?
- Can you have a quiet room away from the nightlife, the lift shaft and the pool?
- Is the route to the beach paved, sandy, steep or stepped — and is there matting, a ramp or an amphibious chair?
- Are the beach restrooms open during your visit, and is there shade?
- Can the transfer vehicle take your equipment, and is the pickup curbside or up steps?
- For neurodivergent travelers: strobes, volume, crowd density, quiet areas, re-entry rules.
Three specifics worth knowing before you choose. The Maspalomas dunes are deep sand with exposure and almost no shade — beautiful, and not a casual walk. Mykonos Town is narrow lanes, cobbles and steps throughout. Ibiza's venues range from level modern spaces to old buildings, terraces and cliffside sites, so the island average tells you nothing about the venue you are going to.

When another trip is the smarter one
Skip these if you dislike nightlife pricing, heat, uneven ground, late transport or event crowds. Mykonos gets expensive fast in festival season. Ibiza's club culture can feel loud and commercial if you came for a quiet beach. Gran Canaria's scene is concentrated, so staying outside it means more transport than you planned for. A mainland city, a smaller island, or an adults-only resort with confirmed accessibility may give you a better week for less money and less friction. Do not book an island because its reputation is strong — book the one that matches how you actually travel.

Not published. On 11 September 2026 the organizer’s own site still showed the August 2026 festival, which has passed, and carried no 2027 dates. Any 2027 XLSIOR date quoted to you today did not come from the organizer.
When is Ibiza Pride 2027?
Not published either. Ibiza Pride 2026 ran 6 to 13 June with the Gran Marcha on Saturday 13 June. Do not carry those dates into 2027 — the shape of the week moves.
When is Maspalomas Pride 2027?
Listings cite 3 to 9 May 2027 with the parade on Saturday 8 May, and that is the most solid of the three. But the organizer’s own page still shows the 2027 edition as coming soon rather than formally published, so treat it as a planning reference and confirm before you buy flights.
Can I combine all three islands in one week?
Only with tight flight planning and no room for disruption. Pick one for five to seven days. A multi-island run needs more time than a week, and the transfers eat the part of the holiday you came for.
Can I do Mykonos on a cruise instead?
