Celebrity did not simply add more benefits in 2026; it moved value between cabin perks and loyalty milestones. Here is what the changes mean for solo, group, multigenerational, and accessible bookings.

Celebrity moved the value instead of simply adding it
The headline change is easy to miss because Concierge Class did not disappear and most of its benefits remain.
For sailings departing after September 21, 2026, Celebrity removed the Daily Delights afternoon canapé service from Concierge Class. In its place, the category now includes room-service delivery with the standard $9.95 delivery fee waived, plus two complimentary bottles of water in the stateroom on embarkation day.
One detail most comparisons miss: the 20% gratuity still applies to room-service orders even with the delivery fee waived. Concierge guests save the $9.95 fee, not the gratuity. Worth knowing before you decide the perk is worth a category premium.
Celebrity told Cruise Critic about the change by email. That matters. This is not a rumor pulled from a social post. It is still trade-reported rather than a substitute for the terms attached to your reservation.
The other familiar Concierge Class benefits remain, including:
- Personalized concierge service.
- A welcome-aboard lunch.
- Sparkling wine.
- Exclusive events or destination programming.
- Other category-specific in-room and priority-service benefits, subject to Celebrity’s current terms.
The practical question is not whether room service sounds better than canapés. It is whether you would have used either benefit enough to justify the fare difference.
The Concierge trade is more useful for some cabins than others
The new room-service benefit has a clear use case: travelers who prefer to eat privately, need a slower start, or want food delivered around a fixed medication, mobility, or sensory routine.
That may make it useful for an accessible booking. But do not confuse a cabin perk with an accessibility accommodation. Waived delivery fees do not confirm dietary handling, accessible delivery, staffing support, or a cabin layout that works for your equipment.
For solo travelers, the calculation is narrower. A solo guest paying a single supplement may value the flexibility of room service, but the waived delivery fee may not offset a meaningful difference between Concierge Class and a lower category. One person ordering occasionally has less opportunity to extract value than a couple ordering multiple times.
For a multigenerational family, the benefit may be more useful when one traveler needs quiet meals or a predictable routine. It still may not apply to every guest in the same way. Ask whether the benefit attaches to the stateroom, the booking, or each eligible guest.
Pros
- More practical for guests who use room service.
- Potentially helpful for quieter, slower, or access-conscious routines.
- The concierge, lunch, sparkling wine, and event benefits remain.
Cons
- The Daily Delights canapés are gone.
- Water on embarkation day is a limited benefit.
- The category may still cost more than the benefits are worth to a solo traveler.
- Room-service terms, menu availability, and gratuity treatment still require confirmation.
The loyalty update rewards loyalty, but only at the top end
Beginning June 11, 2026, Celebrity added milestone benefits for Elite Plus and higher Captain's Club members, and all five thresholds are documented in the line's own Captain's Club terms.
| Points | What you receive |
|---|---|
| 1,500 | 480 minutes of premium Wi-Fi, 20% off specialty dining, one complimentary photo, and a surprise in-room amenity. Check and verify with the cruise line. |
| 2,250 | 720 minutes of premium Wi-Fi, 25% off specialty dining, two complimentary photos |
| 3,000 (Zenith) | Adds a one-time complimentary Veranda stateroom on select seven-night Caribbean or Bermuda sailings |
| 6,000 | Adds a complimentary AquaClass stateroom and a free specialty-dining lunch on embarkation day |
| 9,000, and every 3,000 thereafter | Adds a complimentary Sky Suite stateroom and a free specialty lunch on any day |
Two rules matter more than the tier list, and both are settled in the same document rather than being open questions:
- No milestone benefit can be applied retroactively. Crossing a threshold does not backdate the reward, so a member who already passed a level does not receive it for past sailings.
- Benefits do not stack. Reaching a milestone replaces the previous tier benefit rather than adding to it.
Per-person versus per-couple: the Wi-Fi and dining benefits are tied to the individual Captain's Club member and that member's tier, not to a stateroom or a booking.
That is a different kind of perk from Concierge Class. The cabin change affects what you receive because of the category you purchased. The milestone benefits affect what you receive because of loyalty activity accumulated over time.
That distinction changes the value calculation:
- A first-time Celebrity guest cannot price the milestone benefits into a 2027 booking.
- An Elite Plus traveler nearing a threshold may find the next voyage materially more valuable.
- A guest sailing in a lower cabin category may receive milestone rewards without buying Concierge Class.
- A group may include travelers at different Captain’s Club levels, so do not assume every guest receives the same benefit.
Both of the questions reviewers raised are answered in Celebrity's own terms: benefits attach to the individual member, and none can be applied retroactively. Keep a copy of the terms with your reservation records anyway — these rules have changed once already in 2026, and a screenshot from before June 11, 2026 will not reflect them.
The two changes answer different booking questions
| Perk change | What it was | What it is now | Who notices | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Concierge Class | Daily Delights afternoon canapés included | Room-service delivery fee waived, plus two embarkation-day water bottles; other Concierge benefits remain | Guests who used canapés, order room service, or need a quieter routine | Sailing departure date, category terms, roomservice fee, gratuity, menu, and whether the benefit is per stateroom or guest |
| Captain’s Club milestone benefits | Loyalty value centered primarily on status-tier benefits | New rewards at specified point thresholds for Elite Plus and above | Frequent Celebrity cruisers near a milestone | Current point balance, threshold, qualifying activity, per-person versus per-couple rules, and retroactivity |
| Points Choice | Loyalty points were associated with the program where they were earned | Members may allocate eligible Celebrity points across Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, and Silversea | Travelers who divide their cruising among Royal Caribbean Group brands | Which points qualify, how allocation works, and whether allocation affects status or only points use |
Points Choice launched on January 30, 2026 and is separate from the Captain's Club milestone benefits. It does not replace, expand, or automatically trigger them. Read the Cruise Critic report on Points Choice as a separate program update.
Celebrity's daily gratuity rates also changed effective July 29, 2026: Concierge Class and AquaClass rose from $19.00 to $20.50 per person per day, and The Retreat suites from $23.00 to $24.50. That is a separate cost issue and should not be used to inflate or discount the value of either perk change — but it does bear directly on the Concierge Class calculation, because the category now carries both a higher daily gratuity and a perk whose gratuity was never waived. See the Journal's existing gratuity coverage for that calculation.
The right perk depends on who controls the booking
Solo travelers
Start with the total price after the single supplement. Then ask:
- What is the Concierge Class premium?
- How often would you order room service?
- Do you already qualify for a Captain’s Club milestone?
- Would a lower category preserve the same practical access needs?
Do not pay a category premium to chase a benefit you will use once.
LGBTQ+ groups
Group fares may be individually negotiated, and not every guest may occupy the same category. Confirm whether Concierge benefits follow the cabin category, the individual reservation, or the group contract.
Also separate social value from loyalty value. One guest’s Elite Plus milestone does not automatically extend to the rest of the group.
Multigenerational and accessible bookings
Choose the cabin that meets the traveler’s actual needs first. A category perk cannot compensate for an unsuitable bathroom, poor cabin location, inaccessible dining arrangement, or an unconfirmed medical request.
If one guest requires the room-service benefit for a specific routine, obtain written confirmation that the service will work for that guest and cabin. Do not assume a general category description answers an individual access question.
Devil’s Advocate: the Concierge change may be a fair trade
There is a reasonable case for Celebrity’s decision.
Afternoon canapés are a wasteful perk for guests who do not eat them, forget them, or would rather have something more substantial. Room service is more flexible. A guest can use it after an excursion, during a rest period, or when a dining room feels too busy. Waiving the delivery fee may also make a modest order feel less punitive.
The loyalty change may be equally rational but narrower. Milestone benefits reward a small band of high-frequency cruisers. Most occasional Celebrity guests will never reach the listed thresholds, so the update should not influence their cabin choice.
The counterpoint is that Concierge Class now has a less distinctive food-related benefit, while milestone rewards may be too distant to affect the average traveler’s present booking. The changes are not automatically a win or a loss. They are a reminder to price the benefit you will actually use.
Verify before you pay
Use this checklist for a 2027 Celebrity booking:
- Confirm the sailing’s departure date and the Concierge Class terms attached to that sailing.
- Ask whether Daily Delights is excluded from your booking.
- Confirm that room-service delivery fees are waived.
- Ask whether gratuity, menu restrictions, minimum orders, or other charges remain.
- Confirm the embarkation-day water benefit and how it will be delivered.
- List every Concierge Class benefit in writing rather than relying on an old screenshot.
- Check the traveler’s Captain’s Club tier and current point balance.
- Ask whether the milestone benefit applies per person or per couple.
- Ask whether milestone rewards are retroactive.
- Confirm whether the benefit is already attached to the reservation or must be claimed onboard.
- For groups, request written terms for each cabin category and each guest.
- For accessibility needs, confirm the actual accommodation separately from the cabin perk.
- Save the written response with the invoice and booking confirmation.
If you are choosing a Celebrity cabin for 2027
Start with the traveler, not the label.
A solo guest should price the supplement before valuing room service. A frequent Celebrity cruiser should check the exact distance to the next Captain’s Club milestone. An LGBTQ+ group should separate negotiated fare terms from cabin-category benefits. A multigenerational or accessible party should confirm that the room, service, and requests work for the person who needs them, not merely for the reservation as a whole.
The useful lesson from 2026 is simple: perks move. Verify the current version, price the benefit you will use, and get the answer in writing before you treat it as part of the trip.
Frequently asked
Did Celebrity remove all Concierge Class benefits?
No. The reported change removes Daily Delights and replaces it with waived room-service delivery fees plus embarkation-day water. Other Concierge Class benefits remain, subject to the terms for your sailing.
Is the room-service food free?
The change concerns the delivery fee only. The standard $9.95 delivery charge is waived for Concierge Class, but the 20% gratuity still applies to room-service orders, and menu restrictions or minimum orders may apply. Confirm the current room-service terms for your sailing.
Do Captain’s Club milestone benefits apply to every member?
No. The benefits run from 1,500 points upward for Elite Plus and higher members, and they neither stack nor apply retroactively — reaching a new threshold replaces the previous benefit rather than adding to it.
Can Points Choice be used to create Captain’s Club milestone benefits?
Points Choice is a separate loyalty feature. It does not change the milestone rules or automatically create a milestone benefit.
Should I book Concierge Class for an accessible traveler?
Only if the cabin itself meets the traveler’s needs and the category premium makes sense. Treat the perk as an extra, not as an accessibility plan.
Can a group share one member’s milestone benefits?
Do not assume so. Ask Celebrity whether each benefit is assigned per guest, per stateroom, or under another rule.
