Princess Cruises says the Princess Sanctuary day pass ends on five Royal Class ships, and it has published three different dates for Royal Princess alone.
Sources and facts checked: November 1, 2026 (America/New_York). Rollout dates, stateroom categories and access terms change. Check and verify with Princess for your exact sailing before you pay.
The booking date, the preview start and the onboard date each answer a different question, and only one of them tells you whether a given sailing has the new rules.
The short answer
Princess says day passes, loungers and cabanas in the Sanctuary are no longer available to buy once the space becomes the Sanctuary Club on Royal, Regal, Discovery, Sky and Enchanted Princess, and that availability is subject to change depending on operational needs. Royal Princess preview sailings begin October 30, 2026, with the collection available onboard on January 4, 2027.
Princess Sanctuary day pass: which dates?
Princess publishes two tables worth reading side by side: the news release lists when each ship goes on sale, and the Sanctuary Collection page adds the date the collection is available onboard.
| Ship | Available to book | Available onboard |
|---|---|---|
| Royal Princess | October 22, 2026 | January 4, 2027 |
| Regal Princess | November 5, 2026 | April 17, 2027 |
| Discovery Princess | December 4, 2026 | April 24, 2027 |
| Sky Princess | December 10, 2026 | May 29, 2027 |
| Enchanted Princess | December 17, 2026 | June 12, 2027 |

A booking date means rooms can be reserved. An onboard date means the collection is available on the ship. Neither one is a day-pass cutoff by itself.
What the day pass answer says
Princess answers the question directly. Its FAQ asks whether you can still purchase a day pass for the Sanctuary, and the answer is no: the space is becoming the Sanctuary Club, and day passes, loungers and cabanas there are no longer available to purchase.
That is a statement about the venue, not about a calendar date. Princess does not publish a day-pass cutoff date for each sailing on the page checked.
How Royal Princess preview sailings work
Princess says Royal Princess welcomes guests on Sanctuary Collection preview sailings from October 30, 2026 until the collection is available onboard on January 4, 2027. During those sailings, guests in Sanctuary Collection staterooms get access to the Sanctuary Club, the Sanctuary Restaurant and other collection benefits.
Princess's FAQ does not list a preview-sailing exception to the day-pass answer. Ask Princess about your sailing.
Who gets Sanctuary Club access?
In its October 22, 2026 news release, Princess describes the Sanctuary Club and Sanctuary Restaurant as part of the collection. Guests in Sanctuary Suites also get a dedicated concierge and Suite Lounge access. Shaded cabanas in the Club carry an extra fee, per the release.
Princess says the Sanctuary Club is reserved for Sanctuary Collection guests, limited to guests 16 and older, and that day passes are no longer sold.
Which staterooms are in the collection?
Per the collection page, Princess says the collection includes select suites, mini-suites, balcony and oceanview staterooms on the five ships. Per the collection page, Royal Princess will have 231 Sanctuary Collection staterooms across those categories.
The word "select" matters. Not every balcony or oceanview room on the ship qualifies, so match your exact category code against Princess's list for your ship.
What about Princess Premier?
Princess says guests who book the collection after it opens for sale on each ship receive Princess Premier, which the release describes as its most inclusive package. The Sanctuary Collection page says Premier is not included during Royal Princess preview sailings and is available as an additional purchase.
Those two statements sit on separate pages. If you are booking a preview sailing, ask which one applies to your reservation.
Reserve Collection guests who booked early
Princess says Royal Princess guests who booked before October 22, 2026 and already hold a Reserve Collection stateroom get the Sanctuary Collection experience and additional amenities at no extra cost. Princess Premier is excluded for these bookings.
If that describes your booking, ask Princess to confirm your treatment and the exact amenities for your sailing date.
Where else can you slow down?
Princess says the Sanctuary Club is the only adults-only retreat on these ships. Its FAQ points guests to the Lotus Spa, the quieter corners of the top decks, and the Wake View and Horizon Terrace for aft views.
Those are good places to sit. Princess does not describe them as adults-only, so they are a different product from a pool and lounge reserved for guests 16 and older.
What to skip: planning around a day pass
Skip any plan that assumes you can add a Sanctuary day to a standard room on these five ships. Princess's published answer says that option ends when the venue becomes the Sanctuary Club.
Skip the shortcut of reading the onboard date as your sailing's cutoff, too. On Royal Princess, the preview window starts more than two months earlier.
Devil's advocate: the change has upsides
Guests in collection staterooms get a larger, dedicated adults-only space with a restaurant and, for suite guests, a lounge. Early Reserve Collection bookers on Royal Princess keep the experience at no extra cost.
The counterpoint is price and access: a day pass was the one way to try the space without changing your cabin. Princess has said that way is closing.
The OTGG bottom line
Princess has published that day passes end on five Royal Class ships, but not a per-sailing cutoff date. If you want the Sanctuary, book a collection stateroom and confirm your sailing's status with Princess. If you only wanted a day, plan on the Lotus Spa or the top decks.

Frequently asked
Can I buy a Sanctuary day pass on Royal Princess?
Princess says no for guests outside the collection once the Sanctuary becomes the Sanctuary Club. Royal Princess preview sailings begin October 30, 2026, and Princess's FAQ lists no preview exception. Ask Princess about your exact sailing date before you plan on one.
When does the Sanctuary Collection start on Royal Princess?
Princess lists January 4, 2027 as the date the collection is available onboard Royal Princess. Preview sailings run from October 30, 2026 until the collection is available onboard, and guests in Sanctuary Collection staterooms get Sanctuary Club access during that window, per Princess's FAQ.
Which Princess ships are getting the Sanctuary Collection?
Five Royal Class ships: Royal Princess, Regal Princess, Discovery Princess, Sky Princess and Enchanted Princess. Princess lists onboard dates from January 4, 2027 for Royal Princess to June 12, 2027 for Enchanted Princess. Sun Princess and Star Princess already have the collection.
Is there another adults-only space on these ships?
Princess says the Sanctuary Club is its only adults-only retreat on these ships. It points guests to the Lotus Spa, quieter top-deck corners, Wake View and Horizon Terrace, but does not describe those spaces as adults-only. Confirm any age rules with Princess for your sailing.
Which staterooms count as Sanctuary Collection?
Per the collection page, Princess says the collection includes select suites, mini-suites, balcony and oceanview staterooms. Royal Princess will have 231 collection staterooms. Because the list is select categories, not every room of a type qualifies, so check your category code with Princess before you book.
