Queen Anne is leaving Cunard in 2029
What it means for your booking

Published Cunard sailings still operate. What changes is the window on some Queen Anne experiences, and why solo travelers should compare all four Queens now.

The transfer does not cancel Queen Anne’s published Cunard sailings, but it does put a date around some experiences, and makes the solo-cabin comparison worth doing now.

Sources and facts checked: October 22, 2026 (America/New_York). Fleet plans, voyage codes, itineraries and solo fares change. Check and verify with the cruise line before you pay.

Your existing Queen Anne booking is not being moved today

Queen Anne is scheduled to remain with Cunard through completion of her 2028/29 World Voyage. After that, she is due to undergo an extensive reimagining, receive a new name and enter P&O Cruises service in May 2029. Cunard says all currently published voyages before the transfer will operate as planned. The announcement is not, by itself, a reason to cancel or change a booking you already hold. Check your own reservation and fare terms as usual. (TTG Media, October 7, 2026; Cruise Trade News, October 6, 2026)

The key distinction is between a scheduled Cunard voyage before the handover and a future voyage on the reimagined ship. The first remains a Cunard itinerary. The second will be sold as a P&O Cruises experience, not as a continuation of Queen Anne’s current Cunard product.

The new ship name, detailed onboard product and post-transfer itineraries had not been announced as of October 17, 2026.

As part of the wider fleet reallocation, P&O’s Arcadia is due to transfer to Holland America after a farewell season ending August 21, 2029.

Some Queen Anne moments now have a defined window

The transfer makes certain scheduled experiences finite as Cunard offerings. That does not mean you need to rush; it means you should decide whether one of them is the reason you want this particular ship.

  • Four Queens in Liverpool: Queen Anne is scheduled to join Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth on the River Mersey on May 16, 2028. Cunard’s published event information describes the gathering as a first for its four-ship fleet. (Cunard media center)
  • The final Cunard World Voyage: Queen Anne’s final World Voyage as a Cunard ship is scheduled to begin in January 2029. Cunard stated this directly in its October 6, 2026 announcement, describing “her final World Voyage as a Cunard ship in January 2029.” That makes the voyage more than a long itinerary: it is the final Cunard World Voyage aboard this ship.
  • Le Gavroche at Sea with Michel Roux: Cunard announced five Queen Anne residencies between May 2027 and June 2028. The published departures are May 2, 2027 (H712), August 29, 2027 (H724), September 5, 2027 (H725N), May 21, 2028 (H812) and June 4, 2028 (H814). These are experiences tied to particular sailings, not a permanent feature you should assume will follow the ship after its reimagining. Check the exact sailing and what is included in its booking. (PR Newswire UK, October 13, 2026; Cruise Industry News, October 13, 2026)
  • Two Four Queens sailings, not one: Cunard’s 2028 program lists two Queen Anne voyages that include the Liverpool gathering — H809A, a 16-night Northern Europe sailing departing May 2, 2028, and H810N, a 14-night Hamburg sailing — both with an overnight stay in Liverpool. If the Four Queens event is your goal, there are two bookable options to compare, not a single voyage code. (Travel Weekly, May 2026)

Our separate Queen Mary 2 refit story covers QM2’s planned May 2027 return and 31 new staterooms. It is a different ship and a different decision from Queen Anne’s transfer.

Choose the sailing for its itinerary, not just its farewell status

A departure date can make a voyage feel momentous, but the practical question is whether the route and onboard experience suit you. Queen Anne’s published South America Discovery is one example: Cunard lists an 82-night voyage departing Southampton on January 10, 2027, with an overnight call in Rio de Janeiro from February 7 to 8. The schedule places the call during Rio Carnival. Confirm the exact departure date, itinerary and port arrangements against Cunard’s booking record before committing. (Cunard’s H703B itinerary)

For any Queen Anne sailing you are weighing:

  • Start with the itinerary and total time away. A long voyage can look appealing on a map; make sure the dates, pace and port mix work for your life.
  • Check whether the experience you care about is scheduled on that departure. A residency, overnight call or fleet gathering is sailing-specific.
  • Ask what is included and what is separately priced. Do not infer that an event or shore experience is part of the fare because it appears in voyage marketing.
  • Get written confirmation from Cunard of the ship, dates, itinerary, cabin, fare basis and applicable deposit and cancellation terms.

If a published sailing already fits, the transfer announcement does not make the experience more certain or less certain than the booking terms say. It simply clarifies how long Queen Anne is scheduled to sail under Cunard.

Cunard’s solo cabin choice depends on the ship

For solo travelers, Queen Anne’s departure matters because Cunard’s ships do not offer the same cabin structure. Cunard’s solo-traveler page is the primary reference for the current distinction.

OTGG planning summary. Checked October 22, 2026.
ShipDedicated single-occupancy Britannia stateroomsPractical booking implication
Queen Mary 2 Yes; priced at a fixed solo rateCompare the dedicated single category with any standard cabin you might prefer.
Queen Victoria Yes; priced at a fixed solo rateCheck the cabin grade and one-person total for your specific departure.
Queen Elizabeth Yes; priced at a fixed solo rateConfirm that the dedicated category is available on the sailing you want.
Queen Anne No dedicated single-cabin categoryA solo guest books a standard Britannia stateroom with the applicable supplement. Cunard may offer reduced single supplements on selected sailings.

A solo rate on a dedicated cabin is not the same thing as a ship-wide supplement promotion. On Queen Anne, do not assume a cabin designed for two becomes a dedicated single cabin because a promotion reduces its price. Check the actual cabin category and fare calculation.

Cunard’s solo page also describes coffee mornings and drinks receptions for solo guests, shared-table dining as an option, and activities where guests can meet others. Those details speak to the onboard experience; they do not change the cabin pricing. Activities can vary by voyage, so check the sailing’s program if a particular event matters to you.

For the supplement arithmetic, use the Solo Cruise Supplement Playbook rather than relying on a headline discount. Compare the final one-person total, not just the advertised rate.

Compare the three Queens before deciding Queen Anne is the only fit

Queen Anne offers a different ship and itinerary choice, but solo travelers should weigh it against Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth, not just against a standard cabin on Queen Anne.

If a dedicated single cabin is important, check the other three ships first. If Queen Anne’s route or a specific scheduled experience is the priority, request a quote for a standard Britannia cabin for one and ask whether a reduced supplement applies to that sailing. Make the comparison on the same date: any fare comparison is a fare snapshot, checked on the date shown, not a promise that the amount will remain available.

A lower supplement does not necessarily make the Queen Anne booking the better choice. Consider the cabin grade, itinerary, dates, fare conditions and the value you place on the shipboard experience. If a future P&O version of Queen Anne interests you, wait for its published product details rather than assuming that today’s Cunard experience will carry over unchanged.

Devil’s advocate: a ship transfer raises real long-term questions

The fair counter-case is that Cunard will have three ships after Queen Anne leaves. Fewer ships mean less capacity and a smaller loyalty footprint: regular guests will have fewer Cunard vessels and schedules to choose from. The published announcement says existing Queen Anne voyages will operate as planned, but it does not settle every longer-term question for repeat guests.

And a transfer is not a promise that Queen Anne’s current onboard product, or any particular venue, event or service, will survive the reimagining. It is reasonable to ask what replaces those experiences. It is not reasonable to assume the answer before P&O publishes the ship’s new name, itineraries and onboard details.

That uncertainty matters for a future P&O booking, not as a reason to treat an existing Cunard booking as canceled. Book the published Cunard experience you actually want, and evaluate the later P&O product on its own published terms.

Verify before you pay

Does Cunard’s record show your sailing correctly?

Confirm the ship name, sailing date, voyage code and itinerary on Cunard’s booking record.

Does your Queen Anne booking stay on its sailing?

For a Queen Anne booking before the transfer, confirm in writing that your reservation remains on the scheduled Cunard sailing.

Which Four Queens sailing are you booking?

For Four Queens, verify the May 16, 2028 Liverpool call and which of the two sailings (H809A or H810N) you are booking, plus any event details tied to your specific voyage.

Is your voyage part of the Le Gavroche residency?

For a Le Gavroche residency, verify that your departure matches one of the five announced voyage codes (H712, H724, H725N, H812, H814) and ask what the sailing fare includes.

Do the South America Discovery date and length match Cunard's page?

For the January 10, 2027 South America Discovery, confirm the date and Rio overnight against Cunard’s current itinerary; secondary coverage has cited both 82-night and 90-night lengths for this program, so verify the figure on Cunard’s own page.

Traveling solo? Which cabin type did you choose?

If traveling solo, confirm whether you selected a dedicated single Britannia stateroom or a standard cabin priced for one.

Does a reduced single supplement apply on Queen Anne?

On Queen Anne, ask whether a reduced single supplement applies to your exact sailing and cabin category.

Have you compared the full one-person cost?

Compare the total one-person fare, deposit, final-payment date and cancellation terms, not only the per-person headline.

Is everything confirmed by Cunard before you pay?

Obtain written confirmation from Cunard before paying. Reconfirm any important itinerary or event detail directly with the operator before making nonrefundable arrangements around it.

If you already have Queen Anne booked, or are choosing a ship for one

Start with the experience you want, the dates you can travel and the solo cabin structure that fits. Then ask Cunard to put the details that matter to your booking in writing.

Frequently asked

Will my booked Queen Anne cruise be canceled because of the transfer?

The announcement says all currently published voyages before the transfer will operate as planned. Check your reservation and written terms; the transfer alone does not require you to cancel.

When does Queen Anne stop sailing for Cunard?

She is scheduled to complete her 2028/29 World Voyage, which begins in January 2029, before reimagining and entering P&O Cruises service in May 2029.

Will Queen Anne’s Cunard experience continue on P&O?

That has not been established. The ship is due to be reimagined and renamed, and the P&O onboard product had not been announced as of October 17, 2026.

Does Queen Anne have dedicated solo cabins?

No. Cunard lists dedicated single-occupancy Britannia staterooms on Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth, but not Queen Anne.

Can I book Queen Anne solo without paying a supplement?

A solo guest on Queen Anne books a standard Britannia stateroom with the applicable supplement. Cunard may offer reduced supplements on selected sailings; confirm the terms for your departure.

Which Queen Anne experiences are scheduled only through 2028?

The announced Le Gavroche at Sea residencies run from May 2027 through June 2028 (five departures, codes H712, H724, H725N, H812 and H814). Queen Anne is also scheduled for the Four Queens gathering in Liverpool on May 16, 2028 — reachable on two sailings, H809A and H810N — and her final Cunard World Voyage beginning in January 2029.

Should I change my existing booking?

Not solely because of the transfer announcement. Review your specific itinerary, cabin, fare terms and any experience that matters to you; request written confirmation from Cunard if you need clarity.
