The new sailings reward travelers who plan around destinations, timing and fare details, not just a headline discount.

The October announcement is a new wave, not the whole collection
Silversea opened general sales for 103 new 2028–2029 sailings on October 8, 2026. Those sailings cover 219 destinations in 56 countries and add 29 ports of call. That is a substantial release, but it is not the full collection.
Silversea presents the October sailings as new additions to its 2028–2029 “Let the World Surprise You” collection. That wider program was announced in July: 278 voyages across 497 destinations in 71 countries, departing between March 2028 and March 2029, with general sales from July 9, 2026, per Royal Caribbean Group’s July 7, 2026 release.
Silversea says it sails to more than 900 destinations. The collection figures describe a particular program and period, not the full reach of the brand.
The Grand South America voyage is an itinerary decision first
The headline itinerary is a 75-night, round-trip voyage aboard Silver Nova. It departs Fort Lauderdale on January 13, 2029 and returns on March 29. The route includes a Panama Canal transit, scenic cruising off the Antarctic Peninsula and overnight stays in Manaus, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Callao (Lima) and Cartagena.
The announcement also describes guest events: a sunset reception in St. Barts, reserved seating for Rio’s Carnival at the Sambadrome and a private rooftop event in Cartagena. These are guest events on the voyage, not evidence that the ship is chartered or closed to other passengers.
The original release did not publish a fare, and Silversea’s voyage page describes its pricing as based on double occupancy and discounted with a Combo Cruise benefit, but showed no fare amounts when we checked. Treat any figure you see there as a fare snapshot on the day you check it. Check and verify with the cruise line or vendor.
A 75-night trip also asks for more than a vacation window. Consider the time away, flights to and from Fort Lauderdale, insurance, time-zone changes and the practicalities of being at sea for weeks. The itinerary can be compelling and still be the wrong fit for your calendar.
New ports matter most when they change your route
The new ports give repeat visitors and itinerary planners specific reasons to look closer. In Europe, the release names Brindisi and Imperia. In Asia, it adds Yeosu, Hitachinaka, Miyako-jima, Vigan, Muara, Sihanoukville, Makassar and Maizuru, which serves as a gateway for Kyoto. Kobe and Bali are listed as turnaround ports.
A new port is not automatically a better port day. Check how long the ship stays, whether the call is overnight, what transport is needed to reach the place you want to see, and whether the itinerary leaves room to combine neighboring sailings. A port label can sound close to a famous city while still requiring meaningful ground travel.
For multi-generational groups, compare the pace and logistics of each stop before choosing by destination count alone. A day with a long transfer may suit one traveler and exhaust another. Agreeing on priorities before departure is usually easier than renegotiating on the pier.
S.A.L.T. is a reason to check the ship, not assume fleetwide access
The new S.A.L.T. Culinary Voyages add itineraries shaped around food and seasonal experiences. The Grape Harvest theme spans Portugal, Spain, France and the United Kingdom around harvest season. The collection also includes wine-and-truffle voyages in Italy and Spain and Asian Markets sailings between Singapore and Hong Kong.
The important caveat: S.A.L.T. is ship-specific, not available across every Silversea ship. Trade coverage and Silversea material point to Silver Moon, Silver Dawn, Silver Nova, Silver Ray, Silver Muse and Silver Spirit, but the S.A.L.T. Culinary Voyages page names no ships, so check and verify with the cruise line or vendor. Check the ship and sailing you are considering rather than inferring availability from the itinerary theme.
On Silver Nova and Silver Ray, S.A.L.T. Chef’s Table is an 11-course evening experience in the S.A.L.T. Lab. The format adds another dining option, but confirm reservation requirements and any additional charge for your sailing. Do not assume a fare covers every special dining experience or shoreside activity.
Compare the fare structure before comparing the discount
Promotions can make the launch feel like a deal story, but the headline saving is not the whole cost. In mid-October, the US offer page advertised limited-time extra savings and reduced deposits from 15%, refundable with the All-Inclusive Plus fare; UK-market offer material carries its own savings figure and booking deadline. Eligibility varies by market, sailing and fare type, so confirm the terms for the exact booking. Check and verify with the cruise line or vendor.
Silversea also lists single supplements of 25% on selected voyages, for suite categories up to a stated level on each ship. The offer is voyage-specific; Silversea notes that other sailings may carry higher supplements. For the arithmetic behind solo pricing, see the solo cruise supplement playbook.
| Fare element | What to check |
|---|---|
| Base cruise fare | Which fare type is quoted, for which suite, and whether the display assumes double occupancy |
| Onboard inclusions | Dining, beverages, service, Wi-Fi, gratuities and other items listed for that specific fare |
| Shore benefits | Whether an excursion credit applies, what it covers and whether it is tied to a particular fare |
| Extra costs | Airfare, transfers, optional excursions, special dining and any event or land program charges |
| Booking terms | Deposit amount, final-payment date, cancellation rules and promotion eligibility |
For a broader explanation of how Silversea’s fare choices affect comparisons, see Silversea vs. Seabourn vs. Regent. A bundled-looking headline can still compare poorly with another fare once you account for the inclusions you will actually use.
Devil’s advocate: a large launch is not automatically a better fit
The October release contains 103 new sailings, added to a 2028–2029 collection announced in July with 278 voyages. Those numbers describe program scale; they do not tell you whether a specific sailing suits your dates, budget or preferred pace.
The 2029 Grand South America voyage is also more than two years away. That lead time can help travelers coordinate work leave, flights and a longer trip, but it is a poor match for someone seeking a spontaneous getaway. And the phrase “private event” describes a guest event, not a private ship.
Finally, comparing a cruise-only fare with a fare that includes more services can distort the math. Compare the costs and benefits you expect to use, not just the first number on the page.
