Frequently asked
Who can participate
Who can refer friends?
Any past or current OTGG client — anyone who has at least one OTGG booking on record (cruise, hotel, multi-destination, group) can request a personal referral code.
Who can be referred?
Your friend must be new to OTGG — they cannot have booked through OTGG before. This is a standard cruise-industry referral rule; it prevents existing clients from passing codes back and forth and keeps the program focused on growing the OTGG community.
Can I refer my spouse, partner, or someone traveling on the same booking as me?
No. Self-referrals, household members at the same address, and any guest listed on a booking with you are not eligible. The referred guest must be a separate traveler with no prior OTGG history.
Earning the credit
What counts as a "confirmed booking"?
A reservation made through OTGG where the friend's final payment has cleared. Held cabins, quotes, and unpaid bookings don't trigger the credit.
What bookings DON'T qualify?
Whole-ship charters, group bookings of 8+ cabins under a single contract, bookings purchased entirely with non-cash supplier promos (free-cruise certificates, complimentary upgrades, full-refund travel-bank credits), and "house" campaign codes do not qualify. Standard FIT bookings — cruise, hotel, multi-destination — all qualify.
Can I stack multiple referral credits?
Yes. Refer five friends who all confirm bookings → that's $125 in onboard credit on your next sailing. There's no annual cap as of today; we reserve the right to introduce one if the program is gamed.
Using the credit
How exactly is the $25 onboard credit applied?
Paolo applies it directly to your shipboard folio for your next OTGG-booked sailing — between 5 and 14 calendar days before your sail date. You'll see it as onboard credit at check-in. It's used like any other OBC: drinks, specialty dining, spa, excursions, gratuities (exact uses vary by line).
What if I don't have a future cruise booked when I earn the credit?
The credit waits. As soon as you book your next OTGG cruise and we're within the 5-to-14-day-before-sail window, it's applied. Credits don't expire as long as your client relationship with OTGG is active.
Can the $25 OBC be combined with other onboard credits I already have?
Yes — the referral OBC stacks on top of any supplier-provided OBC (loyalty status credits, line-promotional OBC, agent perks). The only thing it doesn't stack against is itself — i.e., we won't double-apply the same earned referral credit to the same sailing.
Can I cash out the credit instead?
No. Credits are onboard credit only. No cash value, no third-party redemption, no gift cards, no transfers between travelers. The credit must be used on a cruise booked through OTGG.
Code mechanics
How long is my code valid?
Indefinitely — until you ask us to retire it. Every funnel event (click, inquiry, booking) stays tied to your code permanently.
What if they don't tell Paolo I referred them?
The personalized URL handles that for you — when they click offthegridgetaways.com/refer/YOURNAME, the code travels with them through the contact form. No awkward "did I mention…" moments.
Can my friend also get a perk?
Today, no — the program rewards the referrer (you). A reciprocal version may launch later; if so, anyone who referred a friend before launch will be auto-upgraded.
Terms & cancellations
What if my friend cancels their booking?
If the cancellation happens before the OBC has been applied to your folio, the credit is voided. If it happens after the OBC has been applied to your sailing, the credit isn't reclaimed once used. We don't claw back OBC after it's been spent on the ship.
Is the $25 OBC taxable income?
Per IRS guidance, promotional credits earned through referral programs may be considered taxable income. OTGG does not issue 1099s for amounts below the IRS reporting threshold (currently $600 per year per recipient). Consult your tax advisor for your specific situation.
Can the program rules change?
Yes — we may update reward amounts, eligibility rules, or terms going forward. Any change applies prospectively only; credits already earned remain valid. We'll notify active referrers via email if anything material changes.
What happens if someone tries to game the program?
OTGG reserves the right to revoke credits, suspend codes, or remove participants for any suspected abuse — including but not limited to fictitious referrals, bot-generated traffic, self-referrals through alternate identities, coordinated reciprocal referrals between known associates, or referrals tied to bookings that don't actually sail.
