Where ships dock
Ships call at the Resorts World Bimini pier on North Bimini and berth directly, so there is normally no tendering — you walk off the ship and onto the pier. Allow time for that walk. It can be long, hot and short on shade or seating.
The pier takes one cruise ship at a time. That single-berth setup shapes the day: when a ship is in, it has the pier and the resort transport system to itself, which can mean either an easy day or a queue for the tram, depending on how many of the 2,000-odd sailors aboard decide to move at once.
A complimentary Resorts World tram links the pier with:
- Fisherman's Village and the marina
- Resorts World Bimini and the casino complex
- The Beach Club at Bimini
- Other Resorts World stops, subject to the day's operation
Do not assume the tram reaches Alice Town. Routes, stops, frequency and vehicle type vary, and sources disagree on whether Alice Town is served at all. Check the day's signage and ask staff before you set off, and have a taxi or golf cart as the fallback.
Which Virgin ship calls at Bimini

The Beach Club: the strongest included value in the Caribbean
On Virgin sailings that call at Bimini, The Beach Club is included in the fare. Included means:
- Beach access, general-area loungers, hammocks and daybeds
- Lagoon-style pool
- Live DJ or other scheduled entertainment
- The main Bahamian-inspired buffet and food pavilions
- Lockers, changing areas, restrooms and showers
- Wi-Fi, plus complimentary soft drinks and water
- Tram transport between the pier area and the venue
Alcohol, premium cocktails, cabanas, premium seating and watersports cost extra. Your onboard bar tab may work at the Beach Club — worth confirming before you sail.
Separately, Resorts World and Virgin introduced public Beach Club day passes on select non-call days for non-sailors. That is a different product and says nothing about access on a day your ship is in. Do not plan around it.

Budget from the median, not the headline. The cheap end of that range is real — three-night Brilliant Lady Beach Club sailings start around $1,119 in a Sea Terrace — but half of all Bimini sailings price above $2,145. A guide quoting "$1,242 to $1,416" for a Sea Terrace solo is describing the bottom decile, not the market.

The eight-hour plan
- First 45 minutes — get ashore. Walk off after clearance and down the pier. If you booked an excursion, follow its meeting instructions rather than assuming the tram is your transport; independent operators may meet at the marina or elsewhere.
- Next three hours — one major experience. Sapona snorkel, Honeymoon Harbour stingrays, a guided island tour, or a golf cart. One. Bimini is compact, but boat departures, loading, weather and returns are not magical.
- Then two hours — pick one zone. Either the Resorts World and Beach Club side, or a confirmed Alice Town plan with transport arranged. Do not plan on drifting easily between the two.
- Next hour — start back. If you are at the Beach Club, this is a last swim and the tram. If you are in Alice Town, this is when you leave, not when you think about leaving.
- Final stretch — cushion. Be at the pier well before all-aboard. Tram queues, traffic, weather and the pier walk all take longer than they look.
Who should do what
Virgin sails adults only, so this is a question about travel style rather than about who is in the party.
- Solo sailors. The included Beach Club is the play. A small-group snorkel or guided culture tour adds company without committing you to a full-day group. A golf cart is best shared with shipmates, or taken only if you are happy navigating alone.
- Couples. An early Sapona snorkel followed by a slow Beach Club afternoon is the classic pairing. Or take a cart and commit to one side of the island for the whole day.
- Anyone with mobility considerations. Direct berthing and a paved pier route help, but see the section below before assuming the day is step-free.
The island itself
The S.S. Sapona
A partially submerged concrete cargo ship off South Bimini, built in the First World War era, put to use during Prohibition and grounded by a hurricane in 1926. The shallow wreck draws tropical fish and makes a memorable stop for confident beginners and strong swimmers alike. Morning departures are usually better — wind tends to build through the day. Bring reef-safe sunscreen, water shoes, a rash guard and swimwear that stays put.
Honeymoon Harbour
Usually reached by boat near Gun Cay, with stingrays in shallow water and guides who explain how to stand and interact safely. They are wild animals, not aquatic golden retrievers. Follow the crew, and check conditions before booking.
Alice Town
A more local perspective than a resort-only day — but not a casual add-on. It sits roughly two miles from the pier, which is not a walk most people will enjoy in the heat, and the tram may not serve it. Plan transport before you commit. Once there, the draws are the Dolphin House Museum, roadside conch salad stands, Bimini bread, and the Fisherman's Village shops and marina.
Dolphin House admission is reported at $10 to $20 per person depending on whether its creator is guiding, and it is often cash only. Opening hours vary and are not reliably published, so treat it as a happy discovery rather than the anchor of your afternoon.
Accessibility
Bimini has real advantages: ships berth rather than tender, and the pier and main terminal route are generally paved. The tram cuts the distance between the pier, Resorts World, Fisherman's Village and the Beach Club when the day's routing and vehicles suit you.
A pool lift was in place at the Beach Club on our April 2026 call, and lifeguards were on the pool deck. Treat that as an observation from one visit rather than a guarantee of availability on yours — equipment moves, and one lift serving a pool that busy is not the same as one waiting for you.
It is not, however, uniformly step-free, and neither the island nor the Beach Club should be called fully accessible without direct confirmation. Pier surfaces, tram boarding, sand, boat transfers, snorkel entry and golf-cart transfers each need checking against your specific device. Beach wheelchairs and water-entry assistance are not guaranteed. Ask Virgin and the operator about your exact device and transfer needs rather than accepting a general "accessible" label.

Alice Town looks close on a map, yet heat, distance and uncertain same-day transport can turn a quick look into a timing problem. Independent excursions are often cheaper, and that saving evaporates the moment the return plan is vague. Sapona depends on sea state, which nobody controls.
The island rewards a disciplined itinerary: take the included value, choose no more than one paid activity, weigh ship protection against independent price, and leave yourself a real return buffer. That is not playing it safe. That is knowing which parts of the day are worth spending money on.
